Living as Light

Decluttering the Mind

Have you ever had a day where you basically look and feel like a chicken running around with your head chopped off? You can’t seem to catch up, things are not going smoothly, and your always two steps or more behind. Your mind is full and you can’t be mindful. This happens to me often. I’m finding though, if I just take a little time in the mornings to declutter I am able to move through my day with more ease and grace. Check out this simple mindful mediation to assist.

Me saying no to the chicken’s and yes to a little journaling time!

Simple steps to the meditation:

  • Step 1 Grab your journal, a writing utensil, a timer, and take a seat.
  • Step 2 Set your timer for anywhere between 10-30 minutes. If you use your phone, make sure you silence it.
  • Step 3 Take a few deep breaths, close your eyes, and allow your mind to do it’s thing. Let the chicken run loose.
  • Step 4 Write out anything that comes to mind in your journal, even the insignificant stuff. After you get done writing, close those eyes, take a few deep breaths, and continue on with your meditation time. Repeat Step 4 as much as needed.
  • Step 5 When the timer goes off, take a look at everything you have written down and organize your thoughts. Repeat this process daily, to stay clear and present.

Let’s not get so caught up in not allowing ourselves to THINK in meditation and see what happens when we do. As you digest and declutter the inside workings, it will pour out into everyday living as well. Blessings!
